This is an experimentation on shooting full moon. I've tried a direct shoot of full moon before and this time around, I'm experimenting shooting with slow shutter and adding some elements in it. As a start, I being shooting the directly to the moon to get the texture of the moon's surface.

Then, I added a tree branches as a foreground to it and focus straight to it instead of to the moon, thus eliminating the moon's surface.

Then, by maintaing the focusing point and aperture (f20), and with a moving cloud around the moon, I set the shutter speed to 20 sec. I got 'blurry' background as follow:

Finally, I reduce the shutter speed to get different effects. Luckily enough, I managed to get a more dramatic image with different shutter speed.

Don't forget to set your camera on tripod for the slow shutter shooting. I'm a bit lucky as the element (tree) is in focus due to lack of wind around the tree.

ART OF SEEING

Last weekend, I've got the opportunity to attend the Art of Seeing (AOS) workshop, organised by Saiful Nang Academy of Photography (SNAP) in Puchong. The date is kind of belated as I've registered for it in August 2009 but had to postpone it due to the demise of my youngest brother on that day. Thanks to the organiser, I was allowed to attend the workshop this time around despite more than 1 year lapse.

I was looking forward for this workshop to improve the way I’m capturing photos and ultimately to produce good and more impactful photos. The AOS workshop meant to impart the knowledge on how to enhance the way we see things and once we master the AOS, we could capture photos not just technically sound, but also beautiful, with high aesthetic value, fantastic and with meaningful and invaluable stories.

Let me share here about it and what I’ve learned throughout the 2-day workshop. The workshop was divided into 4 parts that are Introduction to the Art of Seeing, Appreciation, ‘Asah Mata’ and Critic session.

Firstly, we were introduced to the 9 important elements in a good photo. They can be summed up as follow with some tips that I’ve managed to grasp during the class:

1. Point of interest (POI) – It is the heart of the image that we want people to focus. The POI has to be clear, standout from other items in the image and need not to be explained further. To make the subject outstanding, we would position it in-front and/or higher than the rest of the items in the image. (e.g.: A hero in a movie poster is always placed in this kind of arrangement to make it stand out from the rest).

2. Simplicity – Keep it simple. Be selective in choosing background (avoid cluttered items as background) and what to put in the frame.

3. Viewpoint/Camera angle – Vary the angle of shooting to tell more stories, create more dramatic/impactful pictures, to virtually change the subject’s size or just to be different.

4. Lighting – Sun (source of light) and Moon (reflector). Observe for ‘rim light’ as it can be used for outlining the subject and subsequently create better image.

5. Contrast – can make subject STRONG by weaken anything else. Strengthen POI and its visual impact. Could be contrast in emotion of the subject as compared to the rest. (e.g.: a kid crying in the middle of a wedding). Also for separation of subject with background.

6. Creative Framing – ‘Photography is about what you frame-in and frame-out.’

7. Fore-ground, mid-ground and background – to avoid flat picture.

8. Rule of third – Interception of line is normally good to position the POI or horizon in an image. For landscape, give more space for either the land or sea when putting the horizon.

9. Pattern and texture – Use it to enhance composition and attractiveness of the image.

After the theory session, we were taught on how to appreciate a photo in the Appreciation session. Here, we were asked based on the above 9 elements, to comments on what makes the sample photos taken by Saiful Nang (SN) good. Additional tips given by SN was that a photo can also be good even without these elements such as those photos that capture the moment’s valuables to the customers such as moment related to culture/tradition etc.

Later in the afternoon, we were brought to an abandoned place near the academy for the 1st ‘Asah Mata’ session. Here, we were trained to make whatever available around the area and capture good photos despite the barren and desolate look of the area. Photo critics were given on location so that participant could improve the shot in situ.

I’ve to admit that I’m struggling with this assignment and did not really satisfy with myself on the photos that I took as follow:

On the next day, we head straight to Chow Kit for the 2nd session of ‘Asah Mata’. Here, we were tasked to choose a particular subject in the Chow Kit market and captures 5 best photos that can tell the stories of the subject within 2 hours. During this session, I’ve shot 4 subjects before I choose the one with the most impactful stories to be submitted for the final session, Critic session. They are (click individual subject to view the photos that I’ve managed to capture):

1. Pencelup Emas.

2. Penjual Ulam.

3. Penjual Martabak.

4. Penjual Apam.

In the afternoon, we have the most awaited session, Photo Critic. In this session, I’ve submitted 5 photos on the story of the ‘Pencelup Emas’. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, my shots were among the few that were heavily criticised by SN. Despite this, I took the critic positively and vows to myself to improve further on my picture taking. The followings are 5 of the shots together with some of the comments I’ve received from SN.

SN - The picture is staged and does not look natural as well as the angle and composition is less impactful. It could be improved by taking the shot from the hands level with the jewellery just below the hands as the background.

SN - Avoid taking shots that are slanting. It may be famous in the early days but good photographers won’t take such shots including myself.

SN - It depicts the process of gold coating. Could be improved if the customer’s bag not in the frame as it strong colour is distracting.

SN - Detail shot is good in a series of shots to provide different viewpoint.

Almost an A+ shot if not for the partially appeared shop sign. It could be improved with the shop sign and everything in the shop fully composed within the frame.

Finally, SN concluded the workshop with an advice for the participant to immediately practice what we had learned. He also shared his view that out of the 9 elements, 3 main elements should be in every photo that are the POI, contrast and lighting.

Personally, I think the workshop has provided me with invaluable knowledge and skills that I’ve learned from all the sessions held. What I need to do next in order to fully reap from I’ve learned is practice, practice and practice. As what SN said “Good practice make perfect”.

This photoshoot was organised by Kelab TM Metro KL for the first time and they had invited Eddieputera to impart his knowledge and skills on outdoor portraiture at Tugu Negara, KL.

However, it was raining from the start and we have no choice but to shoot only within the pavilion area of the Tugu Negara.

Eddieputera begin the session with a brief on basics knowledge in photography such as aperture, shutter speed and important of light to photography.

Then, Eddieputera let us loose for us to apply what he had briefed and take several photos of the surrounding area. As it was raining, we were limited to only shoot from within the pavilion area. However, I managed to capture some of the following shots.

Then, after divided us into three groups, each of the group has been assigned with a model and I was in a group with a model named Mimie. These are some of the shots taken on this model.

All in all, it was a good experience for me as this is my 1st time going out doing portratiure with the pro. I'm really looking forward for the next outing with the club.

Good Morning Alor Setar.. Lets try manual white balance...

I was in Alor Setar last month for some works and stayed in the Holiday Villa hotel. Every morning, after Subuh, I enjoyed the beautiful view of the town with Alor Setar Tower at one side and part of Gunung Jerai at the backround, prior to the sunrise. To capture these moments, I've tried to catch it by playing different white balance (Customise) instead of the AWB (Auto Wide Balance) based on lesson taught by Masta Lufiahs.

Firstly, I set the white balance to the lower end at about 3000 Kelvin (K). Notice on the 'bluish' colour or cold feeling of the picture as a result of this.

Next, I set the white balance to the upper limit at around 5500K. Take note on the 'yellowish/orange' or warm mood of the picture. Please ignore the several dirt on the pictures as this was taken behind the hotel's glass window.

Finally, I've tried several shots by lowering several hundred kelvins at one time until I get the kind of mood that I want which produced the following.

Learning Food Photography

I've got a chance to attend a workshop on Food Photography organised by Sony Malaysia recently for Alpha users. Held at a swanky Social@KL restaurant, in G Tower hotel, we've been given few lessons on how to shoot food photography more effectively by a professional food photographer, En. Azhar Ariff. He is the Managing Photographer of Fotomomo Studio and one of the photographer for Time Out KL and Expatriate Lifestyle magazines.

During this workshop, we've been given the chances to shoot 4 dishes specially prepared by the restaurant.

En. Azhar started with some basic knowledge on food photography. There are 3 types of food photography:
    a. Packaging
    b. Advertising
    c. Editorial

The 1st two would normally require every details of the foods to be seen while the last would allow for shallow depth-of-field kind of shots.

The setup used for the 1st dish. The Mac Pro notebook wasn't part of it and was meant to show the sample shot taken earlier by the pro on the same dish.

The angle of shots could be from 3 different positions:
   a. Standing
   b. Table-level
   c. Aerial/Top.

Light and shadow positions are important aspects for food photography. Always ensure the food is shot with shadow facing towards the camera as shown below. It appears that we would require several trial and error steps to get the best shadow positions and 'reasonable' lighting for the shot.

Another tip is don't forget to start with an insurance shot which is a 'loose' shot without any cropping of the food and its plate. We could crop this shot later in case the rest of the shots are not good.

Also, it is safe to mostly filled the frame and avoid empty spaces around it. For the food arrangement, always focus the shot on the main item on the food, in this case, the tuna, instead on the condiments and cheese flakes around it as below.

In addition, it is good to vary our shots with both vertical (portrait) or horizontal(landscape) orientation.

In a nutshell, I've learn quite a lot from the pro on a very niche area of photography. Thank you very much to En. Azhar who always willing to share tips and tricks on food photography as well as provide good critics on the shots we had.

One final tips he had given was:

Sometimes, the food we have is not as presentable as we wanted. Therefore, food photo retouching can also "beautify" the shot. Retouching involves cleaning up messy plate liners, spills, and food imperfections.

My 1st time shooting F1 racing

Event: 2011 F1 Petronas Malaysian GP - 1st practice session

Location: Sepang F1 circuit, Malaysia

It has been a while since my last visit watching live F1 racing at the Sepang F1 circuit. This time around, I went there not merely for watching the race, but shooting photos of the racing cars. As the entry is free for the whole Friday practice sessions, my friend, Ujang and I took this opportunity to test our photography skills on the circuit. I'm more motivated for this trip as I could try my new toy, the Sony Alpha A580 with my loyal Sony 18-250mm lens.

On that day, we were lucky as it was cloudy and not so hot as normally it was.

Though, the entry is free, one has to go through security check. No water bottles are allowed to be brought in and one has to leave them at the check-in point.

Firstly, we went to the main grandstand area facing the paddock and pit stops as Ujang need to get beercan lens from his brother for shooting. In the meantime, I snaps a couple of pit stop actions and the surrounding areas from the grandstand. Here some of the pix...

After few shots, we head to the North Tower to get actions at the last corner of the track.

As we arrived at the North Tower, there are already lots of photographers taking photos of the F1 cars. I noticed several photographers with interesting costumes over there..

As the 1st practice session is only for 1.5 hours, we quickly take out our gear and start shooting. Initially, it is quite frustrating as I couldn't take shots. Don't forget this is my 1st attempt taking panning shots of racing cars. But after a while, I've started to get the hang of it. You've got to anticipate the next car coming while reading with your camera pointing at the spot the car will arrive. As it arrive, need to focus lock the car (don't forget to use continuous focusing mode) while moving with the direction of the car. And then shoot. The followings are some of the shot sthat I feel quite OK for a noobies like me...

The session completed with several actions on and off the track. I feel good as managed to capture some shots worth of a first timer.... As we packed and headed to the exit, I managed to get myself shot by Ujang outside one of the marquee selling F1 merchandise.

There are lots of shops selling F1 merchandises of the team competing in the race. Also, there is a marquee displaying Mercedes F1 car for 2011, the W02.

Overall, I feel satisfy with this outing and enjoyed it very much. I will definitely consider to do it again next year but have to remember to bring a pair of ear plugs. Due to the deafening sounds of the F1 engine cars, I couldn't not hear clearly for a few hours after the session. Something that I have to bear in mind for the next trip.

Selepas lebih 21 tahun aku meninggalkan Sekolah Tinggi Kajang, ini kali pertama aku jumpa mmbr2 lama dan bekas2 cikgu aku. Majlis ini dirancang lebih sebulan awal untuk memastikan kejayaan serta kehadiran yang ramai. Ianya, dirancang oleh AJK yg diketuai oleh Mohd Rashdan Rohani, dihadiri lebih 80 orang hadir termasuk cikgu2 dan cikgi2.

Pada peringkat awal, Restoran Bangi Golf Resort menjadi pilihan, tetapi atas sebab2 teknikal, lokasi majlis terpaksa ditukar ke Restoren d'tasik, bersebelahan masjid Uniten, Bangi.

Malam tu memang best, sebab dapat jumpa member2 lama. Mula2 tu mmg ramai aku dah tak kenal sebab ramai yang dah berubah fizikal (saiz perut dan pipi, mengecut dan membesar), dan ada juga yang 'maintain, cam aku, huhuhu... Bila dah mula sembang, sampai terlupa janji ngan bini nak balik awal, huhuhu... mmg lupa daratan jap... Matahari terbenam di Kota Kinabalu.

Jumaat lepas, aku dan isteriku pagi2 lagi dah ke pasar Kajang yang dah lama aku tak pergi. Sambil2 beli barang dapur yang diperlukan, sempat la aku survey harga ikan kat situ. Pas apek tu bagitau harga ikan kembong sekilo RM13, terus aku teringat minggu lepas masa aku ronda2 kat pasar malam di belakang pasar Kraftangan (atau lebih dikenali sebagai pasar Filipina), di Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Peniaga barang2 kering, cili2 padi dan pelbagai lagi.

Hari tu, lepas kami siap beli hasil2 laut kering, siap ngan minum air kelapa muda, hari pun dah senja, perut terasa lapar. Jadi, kami pun ke pasar tersebut, betul2 di belakang gerai2 yang menjual ari kepala muda dan makanan2 Sabah. Mula2 terdapat deretan peniaga barang2 kering.

Kemudian, ada terdapat deretan peniaga2 buah2an tempatan. Barisan seterusnya pulak, tersusun meja2 jualan sayur2an.

Di dua barisan terakhir berhampiran tepi laut, kedengaran riuh rendah peniaga melaung2kan barangan yang dijual. Kami pun terus menghala ke barisan tersebut dan rupanya terdapat deretan peniaga2 ikan2 segar. Sepanjang deretan tersebut, terdengar laungan peniaga2 ikan tersebut mempromosikan ikan2 mereka, saling berlawan2 antara satu sama lain.

Memang benar, Sabah kaya dengan hasil lautannya yang benar2 segar dan murah2 belaka. Bayangkan ada yang menjual ikan kembung semurah RM1 sekilogram dan kerapu selonggok (bersaiz sedang sebanyak lima ekor) hanya RM5 sahaja! Argh!!! Sakit kepala dibuatnya bila tengok murah2 gila ikan2 kat sini, huhuhu.....

Fuh, memang segar dan sedap ikannya. Cuma sotongnya terasa macam kurang masak, mentah di bahagian dalam. Agaknya, rasa tu yang membantutkan selera. Tak sampai separuh ikan tu dimakan, dah tak larat nak makan, sebab kenyang pun ada. Pastu, tengah memikirkan camne nak perabihkan ABC ni...

Yes! Chocolate attack has come. Pagi2 lagi aku dan the other half dah kuar g kilang Beryl's ni dkt2 umah aku. Punyala terkejut, sampai2 aje dah berderet kereta beratur luar kilang tu. Masuk2 je berderet2 orang dah beratur nak jamu buffet coklat. Sebab dah kalut2 nak beratur, lupa plak nak snap gambar ramainya orang dalam tu..

Di dalam, disediakan dua meja buffet: coklat yang dijual dalam kotak dan juga coklat buatan tangan (yang ni eklusif sket dan sedap). Apa lagi, kami susun strategi supaya tak buang masa, masing2 beratur di meja yang berasingan.... Kat dalam tu pun ada diadakan jualan coklat buatan Beryl's termasuk diskaun. Macam2 coklat ada...

Dah dapat hasil, kami terus balik, nk buat 'post mortem', pilih mana yg sedap, pasni baru datang balik beli yang berkenan jek...Dan inilah hasil yang dibawa pulang.... MMMM... Yummy!!!!

Acara kali ni di kelolakan oleh Sony dengan kerjasama Studio Zaloon (Sony Pro-Shop). Kami dibahagikan kepada 3 orang setiap kumpulan secara rawak dan diberi masa dari jam 11 pagi hingga 4 petang untuk menghasilkan 6 gambar terbaik bagi tema 'Uniquely KL'. Team aku yg ke-10, dipadankan dengan Mahzan (gambar di bawah) dan Ronald, warga Filipina (lupa nk amek gmbr dia plak).

Setelah berbincang dkt kedai mamak di J. Raja Laut, kami tetapkan untuk cover dari area Chow Kit termasuk pasarnya hingga ke Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman. Jadi, inilah hasil 'tangkapan' aku.

Sementara menuju ke Chow Kit, sempat gak kami ambil gambar2 dekat Jalan Raja Laut dan Lorong Haji Taib.

Shoe Festival

Pagi ni, semasa aku dan isteriku ke Pameran Perfect Livin '10, kebetulan ada Shoe Festival yang berjalan serentak di PWTC. Selepas kami window shopping didalam pameran Perfect Livin '10 tu, kami pun masuk ke bilik pameran Shoe Festival. Kat situ ada pameran berbagai jenis kasut termasuk yang di reka oleh pereka kasut terkenal, Jimmy Choo, yang ada mencecah sampai beratus2 ribu RM. Bagaimanapun, aku tertarik pada satu sudut pameran pereka kreatif muda yang memaparkan pelbagai rekaan menarik dan ada juga yg pelik2.

Akhirnya, yang dinanti2kan oleh rakyat Malaysia amnya dan seluruh warga TM khasnya, telah tiba. Projek High Speed Broadband (HSBB) telah dilancarkan oleh TM pada 24 Mac 2010 lalu dan dirasmikan oleh Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak dan Timbalannya Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/3/25/business/5930292&sec=business

Ianya dilancarkan di dalam sebuah ‘Dome’ di Dataran Merdeka dalam suasana ‘futuristik’ yang dihadiri oleh lebih 300 VVIP dan para media. Pada waktu yang sama, TM juga telah memperkenalkan nama baru HSBB, iaitu UniFi. http://www.unifi.my/ Syabas TM!!!

Pada malam semalam, sempat jugak aku melawat ‘Dome’ tersebut lepas sesi2 sebelum ni diadakan untuk VVIP, media dan pelanggan korporat. Aku sampai agak lewat gak, hampir dekat2 penghujung. Kat dalam tu, dipamirkan kemampuan perkhidmatan UniFi melalui aplikasi interaktif‘triple play’ termasuklah Internet berkelajuan tinggi sehingga 20MB sesaat (Hi-speed Internet), Internet Protokol TV (IPTV) dan Voice over Broadband (VoBB). Malam tu, hadirin telah dihiburkan oleh Adam AF dan majlis dipengacarakan oleh pengacara ‘evergreen’, Wan Zaleha Radzi.

2012 - Special Screening

Malam semalam, buat pertama sekali dalam hidup aku, aku berpeluang menonton filem blockbuster di panggung sebelum tayangan rasminya di seluruh negara. Tiket untuk filem 2012 tersebut aku dapat selepas menjamu selera di restoran Kenny Rogers beberapa minggu lepas.

Nama pun tiket percuma, memang ramai yang seangkatan ngan aku beratur hampir 45 minit untuk masuk kepanggung walaupun aku tiba 45 minit lebih awal dan 5 panggung di Berjaya Time Square tersebut telah disediakan untuk tayangan khas ini. Ianya gara2 polisi tidak membenarkan sebarang alat elektronik seperti camera phone, kamera dan notebook dibawa masuk. Sememangya, pemeriksaan serta penyerahan barang2 elektronik tersebut yang melambatkan kami. Dah masuk, kene pulak tunggu lagi 20 minit, baru lah tayangan dimulakan.

Cerita fiksyen sains 2012 ini berkisar pada ramalan berdekad2 lalu dimana bumi akan hancur apabila kalendar kuno kaum Mayan tamat pada 21 Disember 2012. Sebelum ianya berlaku, dunia akan mengalami bencana semulajadi seperti letusan besar2an gunung berapi, ribut dan tsunami. Ianya berpunca dari letusan besar di permukaan matahari yang mempengaruhi pergerakan tectonic plate bumi yang seterusnya mengubah daya tarikan magnet bumi.

Ianya bermula apabila seorang saintis di India, Satnam menemui tanda2 awal akan berlakunya kehancuran bumi. Ekoran dari ini, satu institut diketuai oleh Amerika dan dianggotai oleh negara2 besar dunia seperti China, Rusia, Itali dan UK telah secara rahsia membina bahtera besar paling moden di bawah pergunungan Himalaya yang boleh menghadapi bencana besar bagi menyelamatkan kemanusian, spesis hidup yang utama serta artifak terunggul manusia apabila berlakunya bencana tersebut.

Pada pendapat aku, kesan2 khas serta CGI nya memang mengkagumkan dan jalan ceritanya agak menarik. Cuma pada penghujung ceritanya, jalan cerita agak terlalu mudah yang kadang2 tidak masuk diakal. Bagaimanapun, aku harus berpuas hati sebab dengan tiket percuma tersebut, aku dapat melayan tayangan khas ini selama lebih 2.5 jam. Dapat la lepaskan tension kerja serba sedikit... hehehe....

KD Inderapura-fire caused by short-circuit

It was reported today in The Star that the fire caught on KD Seri Inderapura that partially sunk the craft last month was due to short-circuit in the faulty wiring.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that this has been identified by a team which investigating this case on the 40-year-old vessel, he Royal Malaysian Navy’s )RMN) biggest landing craft, at the RMN base jetty in Lumut.

The remains will be either used as a RMN museum piece or have it sold for used as parts upon getting advice from the National Audit Department. It was initially proposed to be sunk as an artificial reef off Pulau Sembilan but was abandoned as the plan was considered to be dangerous.

Ahmad Zahid said there were efforts to replace the ship and his ministry was evaluating vessels from South Korea, France and Germany.

As the building of a new ship will take between 48 and 60 months, work on the matter had already begun.

KD Inderapura Caught on fire again...and sinking for good..

It was reported on 8th October morning news in the TV that KD Inderapura, Royal Malaysian Navy's largest logistics ship caught fire off the coast of Lumut this morning while it had been berthed at the Lumut Naval Base.

The vessel was built in 1970 and had been used by the United States Navy after it was commissioned as the USS Spartanburg County. On 16 December 1994, the ship was bought by the Malaysian navy and used as logistic vessel. The 40-year old vessel was one of the two Malaysian naval ships involved in the special mission freeing the MISC vessels Bunga Melati V and Bunga Melati II, which were held hostage by pirates last year.

The fire was started at 6.23am and was put out later in the afternoon. However, it was towed to the middle of the sea for safety reasons shortly after it caught fire a second time at 8am in the next day. This is the second time the vessel caught fire and is far worse since 2002 fire when it caused damages costed about RM68mil of repair works. During this time, there were several explosions, believed to be more than seven times.

On Friday evening, I was on my way to Pulau Pangkor for a holiday and was grateful to watch the vessel caught on fire by my own eyes and captured some photos of it.

3rd day - Further explosions was heard causing thick cloud of smokes that covering the sky of Teluk Dalam to Teluk Nipah Beach of Pulau Pangkor.

4th day - The vessel is gradually sinking with raging fire further damaging it.

The vessel was seen gradually sinking at the time I was leaving Pulau Pangkor in the afternoon of 12 October. But after that, I did not hear or read any further news on the fate of the vessel.

However, it was reported on The Star that the Government would wait for the Defence Ministry to submit a proposal to buy a new naval vessel to replace KD Sri Inderapura and later the cabinet will decide on it.

My take on this, a typical 'Malaysia Boleh' spirit, take action after it was too late despite the vessel has been very old and already experienced bad damages and costing taxpayer money millions of RM for repair.

Health Intervention Program-Part 1

Semalam, 5 Okt 2009, aku dan 4 orang kanak-kanak Ribena telah ke Kg. Salak Baru, Sepang untuk menyertai pelancaran Program Intervensi Kesihatan (Health Intervention Program) yang adik aku dan rakan2 dia anjurkan. Program tersebut adalah sebahagian daripada projek yang diaorang perlu anjurkan/lakukan sepanjang modul Public Health bagi fasa klinikal Pengajian Perubatan diaorang di Cyberjaya University College of Medical Science.

Setelah berhempas pulas sampai tak cukup tido bagi persiapan program tersebut, akhirnya ianya pun berjaya dilaksanakan semalam. Program tersebut pada umumnya adalah untuk menghebahkan hasil kajiselidik kesihatan yang telah dijalankan oleh pelajar2 tersebut lebih 2 bulan lepas ke atas lebih kurang 250 responden yang terdiri dari penduduk Kg. Baru Salak sendiri disamping memberikan nasihat serta tunjuk ajar bagaimana untuk meningkatkan lagi kualiti kesihatan penduduk.Program tersebut diadakan di Balai Raya Kampong Salak terletak ditengah2 pekan Salak dengan kerjasama berbagai pihak termasuklah Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Sepang, wakil Exco kawasan tersebut, JKKK dan JKKKP kawasan Kg. Baru Salak serta penduduk Kg. Baru Salak sendiri. Antara aktiviti2 yang diadakan semasa program tersebut termasuklah:

2. Pemeriksaan Kesihatan (Health Screening)
3. Pemeriksaan Gigi
4. Ceramah Kesihatan5.Pameran Keputusan KajiSelidikDiakhir program, telah diadakan majlis penyampaian hadiah kepada pemenang2 pertandingan melukis poster kesihatan disekolah sekitar Kg. Baru Salak serta pertanding mewarna yang diadakan pada hari tersebut.Program tersebut telah mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan dari para penduduk Kg. Sg. Balak yang datang bersama2 keluarga bagi memeriahkan acara tersebut.

Post kali ini aku ingin menyeru rakan2 dan pembaca agar berhati2 dengan kumpulan SIS dan JAG yang kononnya mendokong wanita2 muslim. Gelagat terkini SIS yang mencadangkan hukuman sebat dalam undang-undang syariah dinilai sekali gus dimansuhkan sememangnya perlu diambil serius kerana menjurus kepada terpesongnya akidah mereka.

“Kalau kita menolak hukum Islam, itu murtad namanya,” tegas Mufti Perak, Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria seperti yang dipetik dari akhar Harian Metro hari ini

Mengulas isu itu, Harussani berkata, Allah SWT secara terang menyebut dalam al-Quran bahawa apa yang didatangkan dan dihukum Rasullah s.a.w hendaklah diambil sekali gus diikuti, manakala larangannya perlu dipatuhi dan jangan sesekali diamalkan dalam kehidupan harian.

“Jadi hukuman ini (sebat kerana minum arak) memang disuruh Nabi Muhammad s.a.w, kenapa pula kita tidak ikut, dan mereka ini (JAG) atau Sisters in Islam ini sebenarnya menentang Islam ke, bukannya mereka mengikut ajaran Islam.

“Mereka anggap hukum Allah itu kolot ke...(sedangkan) kita ini pun dijadikan oleh Allah, cukup anggotanya, diberi akal fikiran...(tengok) betapa hebatnya Allah yang mencipta dan menghidupkan semua perkara.

“Jangan kita pula hendak memperkecilkan Allah dan hukum-Nya,” katanya ketika dihubungi di sini, semalam.

Mengenai hukuman sebat ke atas model sambilan, Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno, 32, beliau menjelaskan sebatan yang diputuskan di bawah undang-undang Islam bukan sama seperti dilaksanakan kerajaan Pusat untuk penjenayah yang melanggar undang-undang Persekutuan.

Menurutnya, sebat yang dilaksana tidak mendatangkan sakit atau kemudaratan teruk, bahkan jelas menggunakan rotan yang hanya sebesar jari, manakala tangan tukang sebat yang menghayun rotan pula diangkat tidak melebihi daripada ketiak.

“Maknanya rotan yang digunakan itu kecil, ketika menghayunkannya (untuk hukum) pula tidak boleh tinggi, menjelaskan tangan hanya diangkat sedikit saja....tidak sakitlah maknanya dan taklah seperti dibuat di penjara...terlalu berat.

“Saya nasihatkan mereka supaya janganlah buat kenyataan sebarangan, hati-hati bila berucap sesuatu, jangan sampai menyebabkan mereka terkeluar dari landasan Islam sebenar,” katanya.

Harussani turut memberitahu hukuman enam sebatan ke atas Kartika kerana kesalahan meminum arak bukan bertujuan mendera, jauh sekali mendatangkan kesakitan sebaliknya dibuat untuk mengajar dan wajar disaksikan ramai orang sebagai pengajaran bermakna.

Entry kali ni aku nk cite pasal kipas sket...
2-3 minggu lepas aku kerap stayback kt opis sebab keje menimbum... Biasa la nk siapkan repot last menit. Kebetulan plak tu tengah musim panas dan jerebu dengan hujan lama tak turun. Opis aku plak tu cukup2 je 530 ptg, trus padam air-cond. Nk jimat la katakan. Jadinya, sejam pas tu aku pun mula la kepanasan sebab cuaca kat luar tu memang tengah panas..Dengan resah gelisah, aku pun g la cari mana2 kipas berdiri yg leh aku cilok kejap.. Berat gak kipas tu nk bawak ke tempat aku pas tu anta balik ke tuannya lepas pakai. Hari berikutnya aku cilok plak kipas USB yg cute miut cam gambar kt bawah ni. Ok la, asal ada angin, walaupun sepoi2 bahasa,tapi praktikal gak.. Pakai USB jek... Tapi biasala kan, kalu tak malu, ari2 boleh la meminjam.. Pastu aku bertekad nak cari kipas sendiri. Yang jenis kecik, tapi angin cam ribut.. Baru le selesa bila nak goreng report aku tu nanti...

Nak dijadikan cerita, Ahad lepas aku gi Mid Valley, konon2 nk jenguk apa2 yang ada kt Maybank Treat Points Fair. Mana la tau kut2 ada menda yang berkenan, leh le aku tukar kan ngan point kad caj aku yg dah ada 180,000 point, sejak dari tahun 2000 tak pernah2 redeem. Lepas aku angkut/redeem barang yang aku berkenan 2-3 ketul termasuk la basikal dan vacuum cleaner, terperasan la kipas-klip cam kat bawah ni. Apa lagi, sebat je la, takat 7,000 point jek...

So, since Senin aku cuti, petang tadi lepas aircon dipadam, aku pun test power la kipas ni. Memang cam ribut.. Abih sume kertas2 yang bersepah atas meja aku ditiupnya, makin bersepah la meja aku tadi, hahahaha... So, memang berbaloi aku beli kipas ni, takyah la nak cilok2 kipas orang lain dah pasni. Pastu plak, leh sangkut kat mana yang aku nak. Memang portable. So, iklan sket, kalu korang pun nak, aku tau mana nak beli.. Dapat aku komisen nanti, hahahaha....

There are here again for the 3rd time. Though without Cristiano Ronaldo who has moved to Bernabeu, I don't think the fans really care. It is not everyday that you could watch the Devils play live in front of you. Today's training session held at Bukit Jalil was attended by ardent 40,000 fans coming as far as from the neigbouring country, Thailand. Though I wasn't there, due to: 1. Keje, 2. tak dpt tiket pree,hehehe... I will definitely be there for tomorrow match between the Devils and Malaysia Selection.

So, dh tak sabar2 ni, kene siapkan senjata2 yg penting, bateri flash, bateri kamera, cuci lense bla, bla, bla... InsyaAllah will post photos of some of the highlight of the match... See you there...

My morning dose of newspaper reading this beatiful Saturday morning was greeted with a shock. Sir Alex signed Michael Owen!!! What a news to start the day. United fans across the world were still digesting the news of Karim Benzema’s decision to join Real Madrid and Frank Ribery revelation that he will only choose Real Madrid if Bayern Munich want to sell him.

The move came after the only clubs interested in signing the former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker appeared to be Stoke and Hull — both Premier League sides but teams for whom staying up was an achievement in itself. And out of sudden, Sir Alex shock the world again and he signed Owen.

Injury-prone England striker Owen, 29, a free agent after his Newcastle contract expired at the end of last month, was reported underwent a medical at a Manchester hospital yesterday before returning to United’s Carrington training ground to complete the shock deal.

This is not the first time Sir Alex bought a player who are at their dawn of their career, but exploiting the experience in the like of Laurent Blanc and Henrik Larsson to inject some stability in the team. The question now will Owen produce the same result as the two had provided before. Time will tell and hope he will as United is short of option in signing a big name in replacing Cristiano Ronaldo and Carloz Tevez. Hail, Sir Alex! Welcome Owen. I just heard the news from my colleague yesterday late evening that Manchester United has accepted an £80m (RM465m) offer from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo. This transfer fee will be a world record surpassing Zinedine Zidane £63m move also to Real Madrid from Juventus in 2001. According to the news revealed in ManUtd.com, the team official website, the transfer will be concluded by 30 June 2009 and there will be no further comments relating to this matters until further notice.

I feel that it is timely for United to let Ronaldo go considering his sulking reactions and deep of forms (relatively to his own standard) in recent months and cash in as much as they can while his value is still soaring. It was a good investment for United as he was signed from Sporting Lisbon for £12.24m in 2003. Since his first debut against Bolton in 16 August 2003, he has constributed 118 goals in all competitions and his highest achievement with United was lifting the Champions League trophy in 2008 in Moscow, albeit he missed the penalty in the lottery shootout. He has received many accolades and honours from fellow players and journalist. The climax was when he was named FIFA Wold Player of the Year in January 2009 and became the first Devil to win the award.

So, what's next in the mind of Sir Alex Ferguson. With Tevez looked certain to leave Old Trafford, there are rumours that Bayern Munich's Frank Ribery and Wigan's Antonio Valencia as the potential replacement. With the money coming from Ronaldo's transfer fee, I believe Sir Alex should also further strengthen the central midfield which was almost non-existence during the 2009 Champions League Final against Barcelona. This is the area I think will cause the most headache to Sir Alex. Also, the gaffer should consider buying more lethal striker in the like of Karim Benzema of Lyon or Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. I wish this will be done very soon before Man United Asian Tour to Malaysia on 18/7/09 so that we can watch the new look United first hand. And we shall wait and see...

Dah puas shopping, cepat2 kami cabut g Tanjung Aru. Dalam 5km dari City Centre. Kebetulan ari tu hujung minggu, memang ramai le manusia kat tepi pantai tu...

Ada yang main bola pantai...

ada yang santai2 jalan sepanjang pantai... Warna langit time tu memang colourful betul...
Dah abih kat pantai tu, kami pun balik ke hotel dan prepare untuk keje for the next 3 days. After this, memang takda time nak 'menembak'...keje, keje, keje...
Sampai le last day sebelum balik KL... Kene carik lagi barang2 untuk pesanan last menit... So, sebelum beli barang tu, kami menembak sekitar area pasar tu... Ni gambar kedai2 jual air kelapa muda sebelah pasar kraftangan KK.
Masa sampai kat area tu, kami nampak ramai orang tengah sibuk punggah2 barang..

Pastu ada yang sibuk menolak troli kayu dengan peti2 warna oren. Tak kira umur, tua dan muda...Bila aku perhatikan lama2, baru aku sedar, rupanya diaorang ni tengah sibuk untuk mula meniaga pasar malam. Dlm kotak2 oren tu rupanya ada ikan2 segar...

Lepas amek gambar2 diaorang tu, aku tembak pulak pemandangan laut yang bersebelahan dengan kawasan pasar malam tu.

Macam2 aktiviti laut yang diorang buat. Kebetulan aku ternampak budak lelaki ni tengah mendayung sampan...

Ada gak budak2 dok main atas bot nelayan ni. Entah apa yang dibuatnya entah..

Abih jek amek2 gambar, kami pun cepat2 beli apa2 yang tak beli lagi, g makan dan terus cabut ke airport... Sememangnya hectic betul trip aku ke KK kali ni, tapi berbaloi... Dan pastinya aku akan ke sana lagi... tunggu...

Sambil2 penat nunggu member aku ni shopping kat dalam Pasar KK tu, aku merayau le keluar masuk pasar tu, cari mangsa nak di'tembak'. Dapat gak aku candid awek ni... Tapi lupa nak mintak nombor dia, hahaha...Pastu shot lagi sorang peniaga kraftangan ni, dia tengah sibuk customise gelang yang member aku pesan... Renyah jugak kerjanya ek...Halus2 manik tu digodak2 jadik gelang...Dah bosan kat dalam, aku keluar... Nampak sebaris tukang jahit tengah sibuk menjahit... Tak perlu nak ~~bikin~~ buka kedai, berbaris jek kat tepi pasar tu, mesti ada pelanggan. Unik betul... Kebanyakannya, diaorang menjahit untuk ubahsuai seluar2 jeans...
Pastu, aku g pasar ikan kering, sebelah jek ngan pasar kraftangan KK tu.. Bermacam2 hasil laut yang dikeringkan ada kat sini. Udang kering, ikan masin, sotong kering, sirip yu, gamat kering, telur ikan kering dan entah apa2 lagi entah...

Aku pun mula gerak cari barang2 yang dipesan member2 opis...Pusing2 pasar tu, aku berhenti kat kedai siTamrin ni. Asal keluarga dari Filipina tapi dah lama menetap kat Sabah... Sebab dia ni peramah dan suka senyum serta senang nak tawar menawar, aku pun beli la barang2 tu kat dia... Udang kering, ikan bilis, sotong dan macam2 lagi, berkilo2... Patut la senyum besar si Tamrin ngan member dia ni... hehehe...Sambil2 tu aku amek plak gambar makcik2 tokey kedai kat pasar tu.. Khusyuk betul makcik ni membungkus udang2 kering tu.. Jauh menung tu makcik..

Entry kali ni adalah sambungan dari entry KLIA Golden Lounge Domestic Review pada 28 May lepas. Flight ke Kota Kinabalu (KK) ni ambil masa lebih kurang 2 jam 35 mnit. Dekat 1/2jam sebelum mendarat, aku jenguk ke tingkap dan nampak pemandangan pulau2 sekitar KK. Apa lagi, aku amek senjata aku dan terus tembak... Memang cun pulau2 kat Sabah ni.

Bila dah mendarat...
Baru la nampak Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) yang tengah diubahsuai dan diberi nafas baru....
Yang sebelah kanan tu yang baru, sebelah kiri tu tinggal la saki baki airport yang lama, banyak lagi tak siap....
Ni pandangan dari dalam..
..dan pandangan dari luar KKIA. Kalau perhatikan betul2, ada ala2 KLIA gak interior and exterior dia. Contractor yang sama kut buat airport ni... Apa2 aje la...
Lupa nak bagitau, flight tadi kul 925 pagi dari KL dan sampai KK dlm kul 12ptg. Lepas amek kete sewa, kami pun terus gi checkin kat hotel.
Memandangkan masa sampai tu tengahari Ahad, dapat le kami peluang gi jalan2 sekitar KK. Lagipun, esok2nya, memang dah tak sempat nak berjalan, kene kerja dari pagi sampai malam.. (kat Sabah kul 630 dah magrib...) Apa lagi, usual suspect, pot pertama kami tuju, Pasar Kraftangan Kota Kinabalu (dulu dipanggil Pasar Filipina)... Shopping and cuci mata time...!!! Seperti namanya, kat dalam pasar tu ada macam2 hasil kraftangan kebanyakannya datang dari seluruh negeri Sabah, walaupan ada sebahagian kecil datang dari negara jiran, Indonesia dan Filipina... Dari permata laut dan sungai hinggalah hasil kerja2 kayu banyak dijual di sini.. Memang shopping heaven untuk makcik2 gayah, termasuk le partner in crime aku yang ikut sekali dalam trip ni. Aku takda la shopping2 sangat, jadik escort cum photographer jek..

Pentingnya hidup bermasyarakat...

Aku baru balik dari hantar jenazah sepupu ibuku dikebumikan lepas magrib tadi. Macam2 perasaan ada tadi masa ianya diturunkan ke liang lahat. Climaxnya, masa talkin dibacakan oleh si abang kepada jenazah. Masa tu la aku reflect kejadian yang sama terjadik masa ayahku pergi lebih setahun yang lepas............

Ayahku pergi kepadaNya pagi2 buta, lebih kurang jam 330pagi. Sepupu aku (kami panggil dia Abang Nang) yang ada masa tu kat hospital sibuk tolong bagitau segala sanak sedara. Memang masa tu kami adik beradik agak bingung tak tau nak buat apa. Aku plak pikir camna nak bagitau adik aku yang sorang tu tengah belajar lagi kat Cyber. Abang Nang tenangkan kami adik beradik, soh aku g amek adik kt Cyber, adik dan abang aku yang lain tolong uruskan pelepasan jenazah ayahku untuk dibawa balik ke rumah.Kene carik coroner kat rumah mayat hospital pagi2 buta ni. Ntah ada ke tidak.Sambil tu, aku soh adik aku kat umah kemas2 umah sebelum jenazah tiba untuk kerja2 mandi dan kapan.

Sampai umah, jiran aku yang kebetulan ahli masjid yang menguruskan jenazah datang ke rumah, katanya sepupu aku tu dah bagitau dia. Dia dah uruskan sumenya, cuma dia nak detail ayah aku dan dimana kami nak kebumikan dia, untuk diumumkan di masjid. Dekat2 waktu Subuh, jenazah pun tiba di rumah. Alhamdulillah, tak banyak karenah kat hospital tadi nak bawak jenazah balik walaupun pagi2 buta. Lepas jek Subuh, ramai dah mula ziarah. Jam 830, jiran aku bagitau, kubur dan disiapkan, cuma tunggu jenazah dimandikan dan dikapankan. Kain kapan, kapur barus, pangkin mandi jenazah, kereta jenazah & etc, sumenya dah ready. Jam 1000pagi, jenazah siap disolatkan oleh berbaris jemaah, dengan adik bongsu aku sebagai imam. Jam 11oopagi, semuanya selesai tanpa banyak masalah. Alhamdulillah... Sememangnya rezeki ayahku jenazahnya dapat diuruskan dengan segera.

Sampai umah, makcik sepupu ibuku bagitau, 'Angah, korang adik-beradik takyah susah2 masak tengahari nak layan tetamu, Wak dah siapkan apa2 yang ada' untuk makan tengahari. 'Tak lama pastu, sepupu aku plak bagitau. 'Angah, malam ni tahlil, Kak Ngah adik-beradik tolong siapkan juadahnya, korang takyah risau2'. Jaid kerja kami layan tetamu jek. Dan sememangnya, hari tu, semuanya berjalan dengan lancar dari mula nak uruskan jenazah, sampai le ke majlis tahlil, hampir semuanya beres dibantu oleh sedara mara dan masyarakat kampung tanpa diminta tolong. Sejak hari tu, aku betul2 bersyukur dapat tinggal berdekatan saudara mara dan masyarakat yang memang prihatin. Masa kita tengah bersedih dan susah hati, mereka bersedia menolong tanpa perlu kita minta tolong.

Kejadian yang hampir sama berlaku pada pakcik sepupu ibuku tadi. Arwah meninggal sekitar jam 4 petang. Jenazah tiba di rumahnya dari hospital hampir jam 7 malam. Lepas magrib, jenazah terus disolatkan dan dikebumikan. Memang pantas betul bila masyarakat dan sedara mara saling membantu. Semuanya selesai dengan cepat dan aku sempat sertai Isya' berjemaah di masjid lepas kebumi jenazah. Peristiwa ini sekali lagi menguatkan azam aku untuk tidak mengambil sikap enteng untuk bermasyarakat dan mengeratkan sillaturrahim. Aku harus tolong menolong sesama mereka kerana semasa aku susah, mereka telah banyak membantu keluarga aku. Hari lain mungkin giliran aku untuk membantu mereka....

KLIA Golden Lounge Domestic Review

Buat pertama kali aku berpeluang naik Business Class MAS semasa trip kerja aku ke Kota Kinabalu minggu lepas. Itupun tiket upgrade lepas tolak 15,000 Enrich points yang aku kumpul selama lebih 5 tahun. Dengan Business Class, aku dapat le check-in dekat kaunter khas untuk Business dan 1st Class yang kurang sesak berbanding dengan kaunter Economy Class di KLIA.

Lepas siap jek check-in yang tak sampai 10 minit menunggu, aku pun terus ke Golden Lounge Domestic untuk menikmati kemudahan yang ditawarkan. Lounge tersebut letaknya di sebelah pintu2 berlepas A, terminal utama KLIA.

Sebelum dibenarkan masuk, aku kene tunjuk boarding pass pada penyambut tetamu lounge tu. Takda pass, tak boleh masuk...

Menepati namanya, setting dalam lounge tersebut menjurus kepada business travellers dengan bahan2 bacaan dan akhbar2 perniagaan dan kewangan. Bagaimanapun ada juga akhbar2 harian dan majalah seperti Men's Health dan Reader's Digest etc. TVnya plak diaorang pasang CNN. Bosannya....

Sementara tu pulak view kat luar lounge ni berlatar belakangkan sekitar kawasan parking, satelit terminal untuk flight antarabangsa dan juga airport runaway.

Yang best dalam Lounge ni tak lain tak bukan makanan dan minuman, free flow. Dari nasi lemak,cereal dan yogurt, hinggalah ke pastries dan sandwich. Airnya pun macam2 ada, jus, soft drink, coffee, tea, sebut aje....

Last sekali, pas dah penat makan, boleh la lepak2 atas kerusi urut yang ada kat dalam lounge ni. Samada nak urut kaki, belakang atau full body, terletak pada selera anda... Memang best.....

Will Manu clinch the English Premier League title for the 18th times tonight? As tonight match is the last home match for the Red Devils, this is a million dollar question considering that only in 1999, they been confirmed as champions on their home turf under the gaffer, Sir Alex Ferguson. In fact, it is peculiar that Manu won it four times on the last day of the season on away ground.

As the statistics was not enought to put United against the odds of clinching the title early at Old Trafford, their opponent for tonight will be none other than Sir Alex's bitter rival, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

As promised, I've inserted below some of my photo collection throughout my journey with my new gadget, Sony Alpha 200, for a sneak peek.

Following this, I will share my series of travel photos and log starting with my recent journey to three cities of the so called 'Island of Gold' or 'Land of Gold' in ancient times. Those are Pekan Baru, Bukit Tinggi and Padang of Sumatera Island.

'Naf-neng' la, bukan 'nuf-nang'.....

For the second time today, I've been corrected when I said the word 'nuffnang'. And I just learned on how to pronounce it correctly. Instead of 'nuf-nang', which I've been pronouncing it over and over before, it should be 'naf-neng'. Gosh.. why can't we Malayanised it? hahaha... whatever...

And today, I managed to insert nuffnang ad in 3 corners of my blog, thanks to dillaz. Hopefully, one day, when this blog gain higher traffic, I will receive a phone call from nuffnang offering me to place special ads in this blog, and of course, with bigger incentives as what 'Orang Cina' may have got (I guess so) recently. This guy happen to have the same problem with me in correctly pronouncing nuffnang. So, I guess, I am not alone after all...

1. What makes me blog?
a) Coz almost everyone blog. So, I blog la..., as long as it won't make me looks goblok (it means stupid in Indon).
b) Coz u guys n gals out there say so.

2. What will be in Kembara Lensaku?
a) My travelogue to more than 20 countries of 4 continents spanning from the State to the Down Under over the past 35 years.
b) My travel adventures from the point of view of my lens, be it my old Samsung compact camera, pictures from a film camera loaned from my good friend or my latest investment, Sony DSLR Alpha 200.
c) Photos coming out from my 2nd of very expensive hobbies, photography. Of course, the 1st one is golf. (Indeed... they are really expensive and there are no turning back!, hehehe...)
d) Photo tips and tricks that I learned from workshop, magazine or the Net itself.
e) Miscellaneous - my other interest like sports, Man U, local politics and anything comes into my mind that I want to share it with the world...
